Ya, I’d agree. It’s an even swap where we might get a little use out of Guzman but Shelton had no future here due to Guillen holding down first.

Shelton will likely be a starting first baseman for the Rangers. So it means more for them.

Some quick research on Freddy Guzman (thanks for the link) reveals a 26 year old AAA’er, with Juan Pierre-ish numbers. High steal totals, no power, modest average, a few more walks than Juan (but off AAA pitching of course). Overall, looks about as useful as Chris.

Based on Dombrowski’s record, I’m tempted just to call it a good trade.
