Toledo Mud Hens lock up International League Western Division

Toledo Mud Hens
Congrats to the Detroit Tigers’ Triple-A affiliate, the Toledo Mud Hens, for clinching the Western Division of the International League for the 3rd year in a row.

Virgil Vasquez pitched the team to a win against the Indianapolis Indians. Vasquez has continued to be strong for Toledo after being optioned back to Toledo and pitching a nine inning shutout against the Indians on August 21st allowing only 2 hits and racking up 7 strikeouts.

Other Mud Hens who have spent time this year with the Detroit Tigers include: Omar Infante, Macay McBride, Jose Capellan, Aquilino Lopez, Yorman Bazardo, Jordan Tata, Zach Miner (he counts as a Hen because he was on the team when they won today) and Timo Perez. 2006 Tigers include Brent Clevlen and Chris Shelton, both of which aren’t having the greatest years. Shelton isn’t showing the power he has in the past but has also shown a great improvement in plate discipline. Brent Clevlen is hitting just .227/.308/.327 for the year.

Congrats Mud Hens!
