Andrew Miller & Joel Zumaya set for possible Aug 21st return

This is a big week for the healing Tigers as Joel Zumaya and Andrew Miller are set to make rehab appearances in Toledo. Their rejoining the team could be key with a tough schedule where 13 of the next 14 games are against Cleveland or the Yankees, both knee-deep in either the wild-card and divisional races.

Andrew Miller is scheduled to start for the Mud Hens on Wednesday in Richmond which could place him back in the starting rotation as early as August 21st vs Cleveland. He threw a bullpen session today which reportedly went well:

Miller threw the same bullpen session as he normally would between starts. He did not feel any pain in the strained left hamstring that forced him onto the DL about a week ago. It was the first time he had thrown off of a mound since the injury.

I was at Comerica Park today and below are a few pictures where you can see Andrew sporting his new hairdo.

Joel Zumaya is scheduled for three outings with Toledo which also sets his return for August 21st.

- Monday, August 13th @ Norfolk
- Wednesday, August 15th @ Richmond
- Saturday, August 18th in Toledo

Leyland has been cautious to commit to either of their return after the scheduled outings but it would take some horrendous outings to keep Zumaya from the team during the stretch run. Detroit cannot hold out much longer without these needed reinforcements.
