Well, so says the PECOTA Depth Charts. The Royals Review took a look at these depth charts a little more and what they meant for the AL Central. Ultimately it didn’t look good for Detroit:
| Team | W | L |
|---|---|---|
| Minnesota | 91 | 71 |
| Cleveland | 89 | 73 |
| Detroit | 85 | 77 |
| Chicago | 72 | 90 |
| Kansas City | 67 | 95 |
Not really surprising, basically saying it will be a close race at the top of the AL Central. Looking around the rest of the AL, the depth charts predict a tie in the AL East between NYY and BOS at 93-69 each. That is better than any team in the AL Central, so this means the Wild Card would not be from the Central again.
A few other notable items:
- Sheffield’s numbers are not very impressive. .279/.351/.436 with 13 HR’s. Well, compared to what he has done that is.
- Inge improves a bit to .262/.327/.445 with 20 HR’s.
- ChiSox plummet to have a pretty dismal season with 90 losses. That will stir up alot in Chicago if it happens anywhere close to this prediction.
- 18 saves for Todd Jones? Come on, he’s going to get many more than that.
With predictions like this, its way too close to call, but thats what we all expected. :)
