Detroit Bullpen Projected Strikeout-Walk Ratio

Below is a look at the Tiger bullpen’s strikeout-to-walk ratio from 2006 as well as from the different statistical projections. I’ve always liked this statistic and was curious as to what next year might hold in store after reading Lee’s look at the relievers projected ERA’s.

A few things of note:

  • Todd Jones’s projections vary quite a bit but all agree that the number goes down. He is still better than most though.
  • PECOTA and Marcels are nice Jason Grilli while ZiPS and CHONE are more conservative.
  • Rodney improves across the board.
  • Marcels has a vastly better opinion of Zach Miner.

Also note that Campusano did not pitch in the major leagues last year, or ever, so his 2006 stats are for his single-A and AA league appearances. I kept it in the graph as I found the number quite impressive though it is over 54.4 innings. His ratio across all professional games is 2.5967.
