With Tigers home single-game tickets coming up for sale on March 3rd I wanted to take a look at games that could end up being key match ups for the 2007 season. Hopefully this will help you focus your Tigers ticket buying and get those key games that are sure to sell-out!
- Friday, April 20th-Sunday Apr 22nd – Chicago White Sox – Tigers first real AL Central match up and likely the first real test of the 2007 Detroit Tigers. Chicago hasn’t had a stellar off season but that likely hasn’t diminished their lineup much, a lineup that proved to be a major challenge for Detroit in ‘06.
- Friday, May 18th-Sunday May 20th – St. Louis Cardinals – Rematch! What more do you want? It’s a chance to the world that the errors have been worked out and this years Tigers team will be a challenger once again.
- Friday, Jun 8th-Sunday, Jun 10th – New York Mets – I always enjoy inter-league play anyway, but this was the match up I thought would be much better in the World Series last year. The Mets are very talented and this match-up won’t disappoint.
- Wednesday, Jul 4th – Cleveland Indians - Celebrate July 4th at Comerica Park against a team sure to be one of the most competitive in the AL Central. I don’t know what all they have in store for after the game but I’m sure fireworks are in store.
- Sunday, Jul 8th – Boston Red Sox – Last game before the All Star break. Also, its the Red Sox and possibly a chance to see why everyone in Boston is excited for D-Mat.
- Tuesday, August 21st – Thursday, August 23rd – Cleveland Indians – Catch the last home series against the Indians. This could be an important home stand for the Tigers as Cleveland is likely the most improved team in the AL Central from ‘06.
- Sunday, Sept 23rd – Kansas City Royals - This is the last weekend home game of the year on a Sunday afternoon. Now you might be thinking; ‘the Royals?’, well at this late in the year every game seems to count that much more and who would have thought that last years last home game would have meant so much?
- Monday, Sept 24th – Wednesday, Sept 26th - Minnesota Twins – Last home series against another sure to be in the running team. This will be an exciting way to end out the 2007 regular season, hopefully heading into the post season.
There is one “Honorable Mention” in the August 24-26th series against the New York Yankees. These are no-doubt sure to sell out because it’s the Yankees and sure to be a fun series. I just wouldn’t put much emphasis on this series determining all to much.
Happy Ticket Hunting!
